Jose Mourinho Set To Bench Wayne Rooney Against Liverpool Clash – See Details

Wayne Rooney’s decline began some years ago, but it’s really set in this season.
The Manchester United captain had been hanging onto his place in the team by a thread last season, and the thread finally gave way last month, when Jose Mourinho benched his skipper for the game against Leicester.
It was a monumental and seminal decision at the time, but looking back it seems odd that such a big deal was made over it.
Because Rooney was then benched for United’s next two games, before getting dropped for England’s game against Slovenia.
And although England didn’t perform much better without him, United certainly have.
Set for bench again for Liverpool
And it looks like Mourinho has now completely come to terms with Rooney’s decline.
According to the Mirror, Mourinho is set to leave Rooney on the bench yet again for today’s game against Liverpool – which will make it four consecutive games in a row.
Rooney has sprung from the bench for (accidentally) set up a couple of goals, and United fans will be hoping for more of the same if and when he springs from the bench at Anfield today.
