Jose Mourinho has named Eric Bailly as Manchester united’s best player in the 2-1 derby defeat to City last Saturday.
The Red devils’ perfect record came to an end at Old Trafford as goals from Kevin De bruyne and Iheanacho gave Manchester city bragging rights over United.
Following defeat to his greatest rival, Mourinho lashed out at his players, claiming they did not follow his pre-game instructions, but it appears the former Chelsea boss was happy with thec performance of his summer signing from Villareal.
He revealed: ‘We can speak about Eric Bailly, who was playing for Villareal who never played in a derby of this dimension, but was our best player, was the player of the month, and produced a fantastic performance,’ said the United boss.
‘He coped with many situations. So you never know the way players are going to react, especially when you don’t know them so well. And after only a couple of months it is too early to know them really well.’
It is understood that Mourinho may drop the pair of Henrikh Mhkitaryan and Jesse Lingard in their Europa League tie against Feyenord on Thursday night.
