Loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were recently apprehended by the governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
According to Splendour magazine, the governor was on his way to Orlu when he met a convoy of vehicles that caused an accident which claimed two lives at Akwakuma Junction.
The governor’s security detail then arrested the culprits when they attempted to escape only to discover that they were PDP thugs, INEC officials and army officers with ballot boxes for Nwangele local government in the state led by a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri and ASUU chairman, Dr Ikenna Nwachukwu and his colleague Ikechukwu Ikemefuna Iroegbu.
The convoy had 1.2 million Naira in cash on them and an angry mob descended on them destroying the cash.
Posters and campaign materials belonging to Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the PDP governorship candidate were also found on the bus.
